Day 6 in Hawaii
Wow this is the
final day before the race. Mike and I went for a swim at “A Bay” with the turtles. My swim stroke feels great. When we got home we got our bikes ready for the race and headed out with Jasper for a short 30 minute spin. It is becoming oh so real that tomorrow is race day. At noon we headed into town to check in our bikes. It is so funny here, in Orangeville everyone thinks I have a really nice bike, which I do!! But here it’s just a bike. There is only the best of the best here. Everyone has the latest equipment. For all those “Gear Geeks” did you ever wonder how they get all the stats on equipment like the most popular bike? When you walk into the transition there were 20 guys sitting on lawn chairs starring at you and your equipment and recording everything. It’s about as close as I’ll get to walking the red carpet.
Once we got home Coach came over for a final pep talk and to make a game plan. The key point was that tomorrow is going to be more mental then physical. This scares me because if I was to do I have a weakness it would be mental. But I worked on a plan and feel when I go to that dark place tomorrow
I’m be able to execute my plan to get through what ever it thrown at me.
Just finished dinner and off to bed. Tomorrow is THE DAY.
