Day 4 in Hawaii
4 Days to race day.
I woke up this morning with the attitude that to day was the day I was going to start thinking about the race and stop worrying about this cold. Coach had me doing 20mins easy then 20mins at IMpace and then 20 mins easy again. The great thing is we are right on the bike course out in the lava fields so it is so easy to just go ride. I had never ridden on the Queen K Hwy out side of race day in 2002. It was weird to be on the famous lava field hwy that I have watch so may triathletes race on in countless Hawaii Ironmans on TV. As well as the number of times I rode this course over the past 9 months on my Computrainer which has a real life video image of the course.
The bike was successful. I had no trouble holding the 220 watts which I hope to hold on Saturday. Energy is still low and I am still very congested, but yes there is still a few more days.
When I came home I found the family, where else but the pool. Jasper and his family joined us and it was a great start to the day. When you get up at 5am you get a lot done by noon. We came back to the condo at 11am had lunch and then the kids and Heather headed off to the beach while I rested up and did some race prep.
So we are getting closer to race day and I’d say I’m a 6/10 will keep you updated how I improve.
